Will the upcoming LG G3 sport a QHD display? Yes it will, at least according to a screenshot we saw last time, but for those who remain slightly skeptical (and rightfully so), LG has more or less confirmed this in a recent press release. LG Display has recently announced that their 5.5-inch QHD displays have been certified after passing verified tests conducted by NEMKO.
For those unfamiliar with NEMKO, they’re a Norway-based testing and certification organization for electrical products. However it was a statement in the press release that caught our attention, which reads, “The certification comes shortly before the new Quad HD LCD panel will be unveiled with the forthcoming LG’s flagship smartphone to be launched in the first half of the year.”
LG has also confirmed the resolution of the display, which is set at 2560×1440, about 1.8 times higher than that of Full HD. It will also come with a pixel density of 538 PPI which is incredibly sharp, although we have to wonder if such sharpness can even be detected by the naked eye. The press release also goes on to give away some details of the LG G3, such as its bezel, as LG has mentioned that their new display panel has a 1.15mm thin bezel.
This seems to be in line with recent photos that we’ve seen that does indeed show off a phone with relatively thin bezels. LG’s QHD display panels are also expected to enter into mass production shortly, although we have to wonder if it will be in time for the LG G3’s rumored July release.
