According to the publication, LG is expected to resume their cooperation with low-cost ODMs like Arima Communications. The company specializes in low-cost entry-level 3G devices, and LG is expected to place an order from them for about 2 million such phones.
The initial batch does not appear to be Windows Phone related, but DigiTimes speculates that LG’s follow-up orders could include Windows Phone handsets as well. This is not a stretch of the imagination, especially since LG’s Executive Director has stated in the past that the company is interested in the Windows Phone platform and are working on a Windows Phone device of their own.
He did not provide any details such as a possible launch date for such a device, but at least we know they’re working on it. In any case we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for LG’s own brand of Windows Phone devices, so do check back with us at a later date for the details.
