LG Chromebase Announced

Google has worked alongside PC OEMs in the past to introduce affordable notebooks to the masses (I wanted to say cheap, but then again, that is a matter of perspective), which are also known as Chromebooks that will run on Google’s very own Chrome OS. Apart from that, there has also been Chromebox desktops that do feature the same operating system as well. LG of South Korea has just announced the LG Chromebase, which is the company’s maiden attempt at a Chrome OS all-in-one PC.

The LG Chromebase is already being sold in Australia, where it will sport a 21.5-inch screen, an Intel Celeron 2955U Haswell processor, 2GB RAM, and 16GB of SSD storage. Not only that, you will also be able to benefit from 100GB of free storage space over on Google Drive for a couple of years, with an asking price of just $349.99 a pop beginning from May 26 onwards at different online retailers including the likes of Amazon, Newegg and others.

Will Chromebooks and Chrome OS-powered desktops be the next big thing in the tech market? Only time will be able to tell, although we do hope that these will have a far longer shelf life compared to the netbook that pretty much petered out and died not too long after being in the market.
