iPhone 6 Might Reignite Sales Growth For Apple

Apple is due to release a brand new iPhone later this year and if it sticks with tradition the new smartphone won’t be unveiled before fall. There’s a lot riding on the iPhone 6. Customers now expect Apple to introduce a larger display and an even better camera. The company might fulfill their wishes, at least that’s the idea we get from rumors, leaks and speculation. Apple’s suppliers are of the view that iPhone 6 launch might very well reignite sales growth for the company’s smartphones.

Even though the company announces how many units it has sold every quarter it doesn’t break down sales by model, so its not known exactly how many iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c models were sold following launch late last year. Though since year-over-year iPhone sales were only up 6.7 percent last December it was evidently slower growth than what Apple has previously seen.

Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty recently held conversations with various component suppliers and came to the conclusion that there are no major production bottlenecks for the next generation iPhone. This would mean that hopefully Apple would be able to keep up with demand in a timely manner.

The suppliers’ assumption that iPhone 6 may reignite sales growth might not be completely wrong. Display size is something that Apple has never been too fluid about. A larger display would likely appeal to those previous iPhone owners who have shifted to another platform mainly due to their preference for more screen real estate. It may even compel those iPhone owners to upgrade that are nearing the end of their service contracts.
