A few weeks back we heard reports that HTC is looking to undercut the Samsung Galaxy S5 by launching another variant of its One (M8) flagship that has similar specs but a plastic body. Obviously fashioning its latest flagship out of metal costs a bit of money and if HTC replaces that material with plastic it can offer the device at a lower price point. So rumors began about the HTC M8 Ace and now a picture of the device has leaked once again showing off various color options it might be offered in.
The advantage of using plastic is that HTC can offer various color options with the M8 Ace. Leaked image shows off at least four options so customers will have ample choice on hand when they go to pick one up.
Presumably the device will first be launched in China, a crucial market where HTC can undercut the Galaxy S5 on price. It is rumored to cost roughly 3,000 Yuan or $480 off contract.
Since HTC is saving money on the build material it doesn’t have to compromise on specifications. M8 Ace is expected to tout a 2.5GHz quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor along with Android 4.4 KitKat, 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5 megapixel front camera and BoomSound front facing stereo speakers. It will certainly be able to hold its own against the best of them.
The company is reportedly going to announce this smartphone in China on June 3rd. No word on availability and price in other regions as yet.
