It is no secret that Microsoft is planning on releasing Halo 5 this year, although the name of the game was still unknown and many had referred it to Halo 5, as it was rightfully the next game in the Halo franchise. Well the good news is that the wait is over because 343 Industries has officially announced the game where it will be known as Halo 5: Guardians.
Unfortunately it seems that if you were looking forward to the game being released this year, as per earlier reports, we’re sorry to disappoint you guys but it looks like the game is on track for a release in the fall of 2015 instead. This is a bit of a bummer since we’re sure many fans were hoping to play the game this year. However Bonnie Ross, the general manager at 343 Industries, did state that the game will be bigger than Halo 4, which might explain why it’s taking longer to be released.
According to Ross, ““Halo 5: Guardians” is a bigger effort than “Halo 4.” That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.”
Ross also noted that more information about the game will be revealed at E3 2014 this year, where Microsoft is expected to hold a press event on the 9th of June. “We’ll give you much more information about our plans for this year at the Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing on June 9, and we’re confident that “Halo” fans will be pretty excited about the special plans we have in store.” Well, at least we have a rough time frame to look forward to.
