The changelog does not detail the device, but it does seem to reference the Flounder device, which appears to be placed in the HTC folder, thus “confirming” that whatever Flounder is, it is a HTC-made device. It had been previously speculated that the device could be launched with Android 4.5, but the sighting on Android 4.4.3 KitKat has suggested that the tablet, or whatever it might be, could launch with Android 4.4.3 on board.
It is possible that it will be updated to Android 4.5 when it is released later in the year, although Google usually prefers to launch new devices with the latest OS on board. Either way we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more info. In the meantime another device has been spotted, this time codenamed “Molly”. The listing on the changelog also suggests that it could be a Google-made device.
The changelog also makes reference to a set top box, hinting that Molly could be another media streaming device from Google that they have yet to announce. Perhaps Google will officially unveil Flounder and Molly at Google I/O which is taking place next month, so do check back with us then for the details.
