Google Glass Sold In Public At Player’s Championship Golf Tournament

google-glasses-kickedThe rather elusive Google Glass cannot be purchased anytime, anywhere that you want even if you have a zillion bucks in your bank account. You can call it the “snow leopard” of the wearable tech world, as it is sold at Google’s whim and fancy. In fact, it went on sale briefly for everyone last month, and for the first time ever, Google Glass was sold face-to-face to the general public at the Player’s Championship golf tournament in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, over this weekend.

Last month’s sale was a public one that happened online, but it seems that selling it the flesh is a different creature entirely. Apparently, Google had some display space left at the TPC at Sawgrass course, and decided to make use of that space by placing a few dozen Glass units on small tables.

Attendee Richard Ranick tweeted on what Google did, and also claimed that the Glass rep there shared, “sales were much better than expected.”

Well, Google certainly knew that they could make the most out of being at The Players Championship, where a post on Friday did invite attendees to drop by Glass at the Welcome Experience area and in their own words, “hit some balls with us.” Google stopped short of saying that there would be Glass units up for sale though, which would certainly have been a pleasant surprise for those who have some spare change in their pockets
