Nintendo’s image, as you can see above, depicts the breakout box for the Wii U alongside a quartet of GameCube controller ports. The peripheral itself will hook up to the console via its front two USB ports. The folks over at Performance Digital Products did announce before that a new controller that is inspired by the GameCube controller will also be released eventually.
It would be certainly a nostalgic experience to be able to play with various characters in Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U using the GameCube controller. It just goes to show how sometimes, over the years, there really isn’t any need for added complexities to be added into the mix when it comes to gaming. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is being prepared for a winter release, but those who drop by Best Buy during E3 week will be able to give it a go. As for its handheld counterpart, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, that will roll out this summer.
