Even though Microsoft has already released a developer preview of Windows Phone 8.1 that doesn’t mean that the company is finished tweaking it. Public release of the software isn’t expected until next month at the very least. Many Windows Phone fans have wondered if the company is working on a file manager, the good news is that it most certainly is.
We reported last week that Windows Phone boss Joe Belfiore would be conducting an “Ask Me Anything” session on Reddit. He answered questions for a couple of hours and was visibly delighted when someone asked if there are any plans for a file manager on Windows Phone 8.1.
Belfiore revealed that the WP team is working on a file manager for Windows Phone 8.1 and that he has been runned a build on his phones for the past week. He said that “it’s getting to pretty good shape,” and that they expect to get it into the store by the end of May, hopefully.”
He was also kind enough to share screenshots of the file manager for Windows Phone 8.1, giving us all an early look into what it may look like when its finally released. So, are you Windows Phone fans happy now knowing that a file manager is most certainly on its way?
