According to a post by a HTC staff, it has been revealed that the AT&T version of the HTC One M8 will be getting an update this week that will bring Extreme Power Saving mode to their phones. No specific days/dates were mentioned, but you’ll want to keep an eye out for it nonetheless. AT&T will be joining Sprint in getting the feature, but it looks like Verizon and T-Mobile’s version is still in the works.
For those who aren’t familiar with the feature, it’s basically a mode that users can activate manually or have it done automatically whenever the phone hits a certain percentage in battery life. It will restrict certain functions of the phone, such as remove background data, dim the brightness, or limit app functionality to certain apps, like phone, messages, and so on.
According to HTC, with Extreme Power Mode active, the HTC One M8 is said to be able to last a good 14 days, although with such limited functionality it does seem a bit pointless. However HTC also notes that with 5% battery life left, Extreme Power Mode will be able to give the user an extra 15 hours, which we have to say is pretty impressive. In any case if this sounds like a great update, keep your eyes peeled for it this week.
