I am quite sure that many of us have already heard of Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as well as their ultra modern fleet with exceptional service in the air and on the ground. Well, Etihad Airways has decided to up the ante when it comes to luxury in the air, having revealed ‘Residence’, which is the world’s first private multi-room cabin on a commercial passenger aircraft.
The Residence will boast of a living room, a double bedroom, a separate ensuite shower room, as well as a dedicated, trained Butler. I suppose this Butler can also provide a turn down service, and getting on board the Residence is only well worth every penny if you have a really, really long flight – otherwise I would like to think that First Class is decadent enough.
Offering an unparalleled 125 square feet in total area, The Residence will be located on the forward upper deck of the new fleet of Airbus A380s, and will come in single or double occupancy. Something tells me that single occupancy is not going to be that much fun as double, that’s for sure.
As for the living room in The Residence, it will be adorned by a two-seat reclining sofa upholstered in Poltrona Frau leather, sport dual marquetry dining tables and a chilled mini-bar. There is also a touchscreen control unit that will operate the retractable ottoman, the ambient and mood lighting, window shading, adjusts seat position and firmness, and activates the in-seat massage functions. Apart from that, you will be able to enjoy a 32” LCD TV, or a 27” LCD TV in the bedroom, sporting internet mobile and data capability, Live TV, HDMI, AC outlet and USB ports. No doubt that a ticket on this bad boy is going to cost a bomb! [Press Release]
