Unlike the previous World of Warcraft expansions which introduced new classes and new races, the upcoming Warlords of Draenor will do neither. Instead it will focus on new content as well as updated models and textures for the characters in the game, which we suppose is a good idea given that the World of Warcraft MMORPG is getting a bit dated, especially in the face of newer MMOs like Final Fantasy XIV.
So far Blizzard has revealed the changes that they have made to races like the Orc, Gnome, Dwarf, Undead, and Tauren, and in their latest installment of Artcraft, they have revealed the changes that they will be making the to female Night Elf model. Now we have to say that the changes Blizzard has made will result in a different look that World of Warcraft veterans have come to know and love, but that could be a good thing.
According to Tyson Murphy, World of Warcraft’s lead character artist, “Overall, we’ve made her new model a little more defined, made some of her proportions a bit more realistic, and added a bit more muscle tone. We wanted to visually communicate that she is a fully capable warrior huntress, and small details like muscle definition help highlight that. We also put additional focus on her hands and fingernails, giving a very slight point to her nails to provide just a hint of a more feral nature.”
So far from what we can see, it is a marked improvement from the earlier models from before. Blizzard has typically introduced new textures and models whenever an expansion is released, although it does feel like with Warlords of Draenor, Blizzard has kicked things up a notch. What do you guys make of the new female Night Elf model? Yay or nay?
