One of the perks of BBM is that the messages sent to and from the service are generally pretty secure. However if you felt that BBM could stand to be even more secure, you might be pleased to learn that BBM Protected is on its way. BBM Protected is essentially a more secure version of BBM and it was announced back in February.
Unfortunately not much was revealed about the new service, but thanks to a series of videos uploaded by the folks at CrackBerry, additional information about BBM Protected and some of its features have been revealed. BBM Protected will be part of the eBBM Suite so if you’re interested in learning about some of its features, you can check it out in the video above for the details.
The next video they uploaded was how to setup BBM Protected. We guess this is mainly for IT admins who wish to setup the service for their company and get in installed onto devices that belong to the company. The process appears to be pretty straightforward, so for those who run smaller companies but would appreciate the security anyway, perhaps that video is for you.
As far as releases are concerned, BBM Protected for BlackBerry devices is expected to be released in June. For iOS and Android users who use BBM, BBM Protected will be seeing a release towards the end of the year, most likely in November alongside the launch of BES12.
