Earlier this week, we did hear some pretty interesting insight from BlackBerry concerning the company’s position when it comes to wearable technology, including tablets and laptops – that they simply will not dive into those market segments, at least not in the immediate future. Apart from that, we also heard how BlackBerry has opened up BlackBerry 10 to third party MDMs (Mobile Device Management), in addition to the reason for doing so. Having said that, here is more on the situation from BlackBerry – that the company will be launching BBM on Windows Phone in the future.
This does make plenty of sense, after all, the debuts of BBM on Android and iOS have proven to be relatively successful, and hence, why not go ahead and play nice with Windows Phone? It is a rising star by its own right, and while BlackBerry has yet to step forward with a specific date as to when BBM for Windows Phone will be released, it ought to happen some time later this year.
BlackBerry President of Global Enterprise Services John Sims said,“We’ve expanded our BES10 and BBM messaging platform to include iOS and Android and later this year, we will add Windows Phone.” With a suit like that mentioning this, it can be more or less confirmed. [Press Release]
