ASUS PadFone S Spotted Ahead Of Computex Announcement
Come 2nd of June, Computex will be taking place in Taipei, and we expect that there will be several new products that will be announced in the process. Well it seems that ASUS has something in store for us. The company has released a trailer not too long ago, teasing us of an upcoming announcement, but new photos have surfaced of a certain PadFone S, which has us wondering if that’s what ASUS has in store for us.
As you can see in the images above, courtesy of Sogi, the device looks pretty familiar. This is because the PadFone S is reportedly the international version of the PadFone X, a device that was revealed earlier this year that was also supposed to make its way onto AT&T, but has been a no-show even until today.
This means that the PadFone S will share the same specs as the PadFone X. This includes a 5-inch Full HD 1080p smartphone powered by a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. It will be accompanied by 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, a 2,300mAh battery, a 13MP rear-facing camera, and will come with an 8.9-inch tablet dock with a resolution of 1920×1200.
The dock itself will pack a 4,990mAh battery, so yes, it does seem like the PadFone X. It is unclear why AT&T has yet to launch the PadFone X, but with the emergence of the PadFone S, perhaps ASUS/AT&T have been waiting for the international variant to be announced before they release the PadFone X, with the former expected to see a release in Taiwan start this July.
