Back in November 2013 Amazon started testing Sunday delivery. Products ordered through the online retailer often take up to two days to arrive and if you happen to order something on Friday you best not expect it until Monday. Amazon teamed up with the U.S. Postal Service last year to offer Sunday delivery in Los Angeles and New York metro areas and now it is expanding the offer to 15 additional cities.
Mike Roth, Amazon’s vice president of North America operations said in a statement that most common items delivered on Sunday include “baby supplies such as newborn apparel, books and toys.” Clearly Amazon customers use Sunday delivery to cross errands off their weekend to-do list. Amazon has recently been sprucing up delivery options, it has expanded same day delivery and is even testing out its own delivery service.
The 15 new cities where customers will be able to receive packages on Sunday are concentrated in a few states, six of the cities are in Texas alone. The company reveals that since they started testing this service millions of packages have been delivered on the holiday. Amazon and USPS have plans to expand Sunday delivery to even more cities by the end of this year.
The entire list of cities is available here. If you live in one that’s eligible, you’ll automatically see the Sunday delivery promise at checkout.
