In any case one of the phones sighted was the Galaxy W, and the fact that it appeared in a SK Telecom brochure had us thinking that the device could be limited to South Korea. Well the good news is that the device has since been spotted at the FCC, suggesting that it could be making its way stateside as well. Even if it weren’t offered by carriers, it would be usable in the US, so you could get it unlocked and off-contract via resellers.
The FCC filing points at the SM-T2558, which is also the same model borne by the device we saw earlier, suggesting that it could be the same phone we are looking at. For those who might have missed the news, the Galaxy W, or the Galaxy Mega 2, will sport a whopping 7-inch display with a resolution of 720p.
It will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, and appears to be running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, instead of Android 4.4 KitKat which would have been preferable, but perhaps that will change at launch. In any case take these specs with a grain of salt for now, but with Samsung scheduling an event for the 12th of June, perhaps all will be revealed then.
