Xperia Z2 Not Coming To The U.S. Anytime Soon

Sony’s 2014 flagship, the Xperia Z2, can certainly rival the best of them. Its a bona fide Android powerhouse. One might think that Sony would want to capture the U.S. market with its new flagship, but it looks like the company has a totally different strategy. It turns out that the Sony Xperia Z2 won’t be making its way to the U.S. anytime soon. Moreover, no U.S. carriers will offer the device, which means that customers would either have to reply upon imports or simply wait for the smartphone to become available in Sony’s online store.

The company does say that it will sell the device through its online store. Since the units being sold through the store would be unlocked and off contract customers would have to pay full price. There would be no carrier subsidies so customers can expect to pay north of $600 for a brand new Sony Xperia Z2. Sony says that the smartphone will be available through the online store this summer, no exact date has been given.

The same goes for the Xperia Z2’s cousin, Sony Z1 Compact. It won’t even be sold through the online store, so customers waiting for this smartphone are out of luck as well.

Those who want their Xperia fix can opt for Sony’s latest tablet, no doubt one of the best 10.1-inch Android tablets in the market. The Xperia Z2 tablet has already gone on sale in the U.S.
