htc-one-max-review-1

The long and agonizing wait is finally over for owners of the HTC phablet on Big Red. Verizon HTC One Max Android 4.4 update has just been released. Only yesterday HTC confirmed that it had received technical approval for the update, which meant that the update was set to be released very soon. Android OS version 4.4.2 is now rolling out over-the-air, the update notification should automatically pop up on Verizon’s HTC One Max units.

Improvements include a master switch which turns all location settings on or off, a list of apps using location services, estimated battery use display of each app as well as a new setting which enables users to choose between multiple location profiles offering both most battery use and least battery use options.

The update also resolves several issues. The Verizon app directed SMS now works properly, Device Management does not run during an OTA download, copy function icon on top right of the screen is now operational and notification light now indicates pending messages, missed calls and emails. Verizon Cloud, Verizon Location Agent and Verizon Support and Protect are all pre-loaded, lots of bloatware in this update.

Other than that, all the bells and whistles we have come to expect from Android 4.4.2 are included in this update. Since this is a stage roll out, it may take a while for the update to become available across all markets.
