Slides from a presentation at the IDF conference in China did point to the possible make up of a USB Type-C cable, where the renders hail from the folks over at Foxconn, and in the slides, it is rather clear that the design is not finalized, so whatever we see hit the market some time down the road could end up being a very different beast.
The USB 3.1 Type C 04 Render has an opening that is a mere 8.3mm wide and 2.5mm tall, where it sports a similar design to the Lightning cable from Apple. To make sure that it remains in step with USB 3.1 specifications, transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps are supported, making it nearly double that of the common speeds found in USB 3.0.
