Just yesterday we reported that comiXology had announced that they had launched a new app that would replace the old one. The new app took away the ability to purchase comics within the app, something which we’re sure Amazon had something to do with since we’re pretty sure they did not relish the thought of giving Apple a 30% cut on in-app purchases.
Unfortunately it seems that with this move, there have been many users who have started to publicly complaining that they are now unable to access their previously purchased comics. Given that comiXology has been around for quite sometime now, we can only imagine that there are people out there who have spent hundreds of dollars on comics who are now unable to access them.
It is unclear as to how widespread this issue is, but if you have yet to update to the new app, you might want to do so and check to see whether your previous purchases are there. If they aren’t then you might want to get in touch with comiXology to get this sorted out. The company has yet to officially comment on the issue but hopefully they will be able to resolve it.
Amazon had recently bought over the company and unlike Google or Facebook, Amazon has moved pretty fast in terms of making comiXology their own. Just like the Kindle app for iOS, the in-app subscriptions have been removed, thus making it a little bit more inconvenient for comic book readers who will now have to head over to the comiXology website to make their purchases before being able to read it on their tablets. So, any of our readers affected by this issue?
