Earlier this month Spider-Man fans were given some very bad news. It looked like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 game for Xbox consoles had been postponed, or worse, even cancelled. Publisher Activision had said that “when and whether ASM2 is released on Xbox One is TBD.” It goes without saying that there’s a bit of confusion surrounding this game’s release, it was originally expected to be released on April 29th in the U.S. Fortunately though the game has now been released for Xbox.
Microsoft’s Larry Hryb a.k.a Major Nelson today announced the release on his blog without giving an explanation about the confusion surrounding the release. His post simply announces that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is now available for both Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles. Digital download in the U.S. costs $59.99 and $49.99 respectively.
On May 2nd this title is scheduled to be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and the PC. Previously it was said that even the Xbox 360 would get ASM2 on this very date, but it appears that the game has gone live for Microsoft’s previous generation console as well alongside the Xbox One.
Many users have already been able to download their digital copies through the Xbox Games Marketplace, some even started streaming the gameplay through Twitch. It certainly looks like the game is ready for primetime as there don’t appear to be any major bugs or glitches that could keep it away from shelves.
