According to a report from The Daily Dot, the tournament was played for fun and was meant to help “raise awareness about eSports in politics, and politics among gamers.” It’s called “Politikerstarcraft” and was created by Jonathan Rider Lundkvist, a member of the Swedish Pirate Party that was put together in 2006 to help focus on issues like net neutrality, censorship, copyright, and so on.
The game, like we said, was held for fun and it’s actually the second time that such a game has been held. The participants included candidates for local government posts and came from parties like the Left, the Sweden Democrats, the Social Democrats, the Liberals, the Green part, and more. According to NyTeknik, it seems that the Left party won the tournament.
It’s a pretty interesting way to go about politics and if only we could see more disputes and wars resolved over more peaceful means, like in a video game where the only casualty would be the pixels on the screen. What do you guys think of Sweden’s approach to politics?
