Reports and surveys indicate that the popularity of music streaming services is on the rise, particularly in the U.S., where digital music downloads have dipped considerably over the past year. Since this is proving to be such a lucrative market, it makes sense that companies already competing in it would want to do much better. According to a new report Spotify and Sprint may soon join sources. The music streaming service will get access to millions of potential new users, while Sprint subscribers will get free trials and discounts.

Re/code hears from people familiar with the plan that even carrier billing may be introduced for Spotify subscribers on Sprint. The service costs $9.99 a month, but the carrier’s subscribers may get a discount. The deal is actually quite similar to the one that Beats Music has with AT&T, subscribers get great deal on a family plan and also get extended free trials.

Rumor has it that the deal may be announced on April 29th at an event in New York City. The deal requires approval from music labels that license music to Spotify, so it may be delayed if some licensing issues arise. Both companies haven’t commented on the report, we’ll just have to wait for official word.
