We have recently heard rumors that Sony could be planning a smaller version of their flagship handset, the Xperia Z2, in the form of the Xperia Z2 Compact. Such a device was spotted at the FCC not too long ago but now thanks to a leaked brochure, it has been revealed that the device in question might not be launched as the Xperia Z2 Compact, but rather the Xperia A2 which is something else entirely.
Of course it is possible that these might be different devices all together but given the design and the dimensions, it does look like what we saw in the FCC filings. That being said, according to the rumors, the handset will feature a smaller 4.3-inch 720p display compared to the Xperia Z2’s larger one.
It is also rumored to be powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 or 801 chipset with unknown clock speeds, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, and will come in a variety of colors such as Grey Black, White, Lavender, and a somewhat striking Orange finish.
No word on when the phone will be officially launched, but given that it’s already been listed in a brochure, perhaps we won’t have to wait too long before it gets an official announcement. Until then we suggest you take it with a grain of salt and check back with us at a later date for the details.
