Samsung Galaxy S5 Root For T-Mobile And Sprint Variants Available

Almost two weeks back we reported that well known Android developer and modder Chainfire had come up with a method to root Samsung galaxy S5. At the time, this method was only good for the international GSM-LTE variant a.k.a the SM-G900F. Since then he has made considerable progress and has been able to achieve root for six more Galaxy S5 variants. T-Mobile, Sprint, US Cellular and Metro PCS variants are now supported.

Chainfire has also been able to root the SM-G900, SM-G900M and SM-G900W8, the international Exynos, Middle East and South America and Canadian variants. Users who have a supported variant can easily root Galaxy S5 through Chainfire’s CF-Auto-Root tool. Its available for free and takes mere minutes to complete the entire process.

The process itself is very easy. All that’s needed is the CF-Auto-Root tool, which can be flashed on the device through Samsung ODIN tool. Once it has been installed, the tool flashes a temporary modified recovery and then install SuperSU. Then it reflashes the smartphone back to the stock recovery.

You’ll notice that major carriers, Verizon and AT&T, are missing on this list. Both carriers are big fans of locking bootloaders, thus effectively rendering CF-Auto-Root useless. But its not all doom and gloom. It may just be a matter of time before someone comes up with a method to root Galaxy S5 on these carriers.
