So what are we looking at here? Well in terms of camera specs, the main camera will feature a 20.7MP 1/2.3 BSI CMOS sensor. It will also come with 10x optical zoom, optical image stabilization, an AF assist LED, and a 24-240mm with an aperture of f/3.1-6.3.
The aperture is slightly disappointing as it is not as bright as we would have hoped, but we suppose it depends on what kind of photos you want to capture that might benefit from a smaller aperture. However if you’re looking to shoot in the dark, the Xenon flash should provide enough illumination to get the job done.
As far as the rest of the phone is concerned, it isn’t exactly the most high-end of phones, but then again if you had your eye on the device, chances are its camera was what caught your attention. The Galaxy K zoom will feature a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280×720. It will be powered by Samsung’s hexa-core chipset which features four cores clocked at 1.3GHz (quad-core), and two cores clocked at 1.7GHz (dual-core).
It will come with 2GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage with support for a microSD card slot that allows for memory expansion. It will also run on Android 4.4 KitKat and comes with a 2,430mAh battery which we have to wonder if it will be enough for both the phone and the camera at the same time, but we guess we won’t know until we take it for a spin ourselves.
Unfortunately Samsung did not mention how much the phone would cost or if it will ever see a release stateside, but if you had your eye on a smartphone with a better-than-average camera, you might want to keep an eye out for the Samsung Galaxy K zoom.
