Samsung ATIV SE Up For Pre-Order From Verizon

ativ-se-verizonJust last week we reported on the Samsung ATIV SE which is an upcoming Windows Phone handset by Samsung. According to our report, it was believed that the handset would be seeing a launch sometime in April and now according to a sighting on Verizon’s website, it looks like the device is now officially up for pre-order.

According to Verizon’s listing, the handset appears to be priced at $199.99 with a new two-year contract, or for those who’d rather not be tied down, it will be priced at $599.99 instead. The listing also reveals that the handset will be shipped to customers on the 12th of April, so if we had to venture a guess, it should be available in stores around that time or a few days later.

For those who missed our coverage, the Samsung ATIV SE is the South Korean company’s attempt at another Windows Phone. However unlike Samsung’s previous releases, this phone is designed to look like Samsung’s Galaxy series of Android handsets which we guess we can’t really complain about as it does look pretty good.

In terms of hardware, the Samsung ATIV SE will pack a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset clocked at 2.23GHz. The phone will also come with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD, a 13MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, and will only ship with Windows Phone 8 on board.

As per our earlier report, it seems that Samsung has decided to release the phone without the latest version of Windows. We’re not sure why they have chosen to do so, but hopefully it will be updated to Windows Phone 8.1 when it is released, which at the moment is speculated to be on the 14th of April.
