Resident Evil 6 was announced and launched back in 2012 and in 2013, we heard the rumors that Resident Evil 7 could be announced at E3, but unfortunately those rumors did not pan out. However thanks to recent rumors as per an article on Sankei Shimbun, a Japanese economic newspaper, they claim that Resident Evil 7 is expected to be announced this year at E3 2014.
The gaming convention will be taking place in the middle of the year and the report claims that Capcom is expected to unveil the new Resident Evil title then. The title is also said to be non-exclusive to any particular platform and that will be most likely make its way onto multiple platforms, so that’s good news for gamers who might be a little worried about exclusivity.
Now given that the Resident Evil franchise has been around for a while, we’re sure many are wondering if there could come a day when the franchise is shut down. Perhaps that day will come eventually, or maybe not, but the report claims that Resident Evil 7 will not be the last title in the franchise so fans can rest easy knowing that there could probably be more Resident Evil games in the future.
Not much is known about Resident Evil 7 for now, but it is expected to return to its survival-horror roots. Capcom has yet to officially confirm any of this but that is to be expected since we doubt they’ll want to ruin the big reveal, but either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info, so until we get the official word, do take it with a grain of salt for now.
