Back in 2013, Nikon announced the Nikon 1 S1 mirrorless camera. The camera would be joining both the J- and the V-series of mirrorless cameras that are part of the Nikon 1 lineup, and given that it’s been more than a year since its launch, we expect that the Nikon 1 S1 will be getting an update soon.
According to Nikon Rumors, it seems that will indeed be happening and that a Nikon 1 S2 will be announced soon. However they also expect that just like the recently announced Nikon 1 J4, there is a good chance that the Nikon 1 S2 might be see a US release, at least not anytime soon. With Nikon being somewhat late to the mirrorless camera game, we’d expect that they’d want to play catchup, but perhaps they have a different strategy.
That being said, the rumored specs of the camera includes a 14.2MP sensor with 73 phase detection and 135 contrast detection autofocus points. Apart from that not much else is known about the device, such as its design, other hardware specs like bundled lenses, built-in flash, WiFi, its price, and so on.
Nikon Rumors has pegged the device’s possible announcement in May, so do check back with us then for the details, but in the meantime we suggest you take this with a grain of salt for now. So, anyone looking forward to a possible Nikon 1 S2 camera?
