It does seem as though Hollywood is sticking to the safer path of movie franchises that are guaranteed to deliver blockbuster performance in terms of box office receipts, never mind the fact that the storyline could get stale, and fast, for select titles. The Resident Evil series has proved to be quite a money spinning affair over the past five shows, and series director Paul W.S. Anderson has recently confirmed that there will be a sixth Resident Evil movie, and it will be filmed in 3D to boot for that added effect.
Anderson shared word about the next version of the Resident Evil movie at a summit on 3D technology at the Beijing International Film Festival, and has also confirmed that actress Li Bingbing will reprise her role as Ada Wong in the upcoming movie, too. Anderson shared, “I have to go home tomorrow for writing Resident Evil. That’s what I’m going to do. As you know, Bingbing is in the last movie and she will be there again.”
It does seem as though this upcoming movie will be known as Resident Evil: Rising, although filming has yet to kick off. It remains to be seen just how Alice will work with her enemies in order to put the Red Queen and her race of genetically engineered minions out of their misery so that humanity will thrive once again. Hmmm, does this movie have anything to do with the next Resident Evil game, I wonder?
