Kamm Kai-yu, a co-founder of the Taipei-based company Fabraft, shared, “We wanted to do something to bring both recycling and 3D printing closer to average people.” The Mobile Fab comes equipped with pumps, wires, tubes and display panels, where it will cut the discarded plastic into strips prior to grinding it into fine powder. This powder is fed into the 3D printer located in front of the bicycle, where it functions as the source material to create a small medallion that is then attached to a colored light. You will have to wait for a couple of hours thereabouts for the Mobile Fab to turn your trash into treasure, and as long as you provide the plastic, whatever comes out of it will be free.
