Microsoft’s retail presence in the U.S. isn’t as widespread as Apple’s, but Redmond has been working hard to catch up. It currently has 83 retail and speciality stores across North America and has revealed plans of an additional 11 new speciality stores that are due to open next month. Recent grand openings of Microsoft stores have yielded great crowds, the company often commemorates openings with exclusive in-store discounts and entertainment.
For those who don’t know speciality stores aren’t exactly proper brick and mortar outlets, they’re more like kiosks that have a “curated selection” of Microsoft products. Think of them as popup shops. The obvious downside when compared to full retail stores is that selection of products is limited due to space constraints. The entire list of 11 new Microsoft speciality stores has been posted by the company on its Facebook page.
Products on sales at these speciality stores will include Surface tablets, Xbox consoles, Windows 8 PCs and smartphones. Customers will also be able to take advantage of exclusive opening day only offers as well have a chance to win some prizes.
Moreover, the company is also planning to open full retail stores in Aventura, Florida, Atlanta, Georgia, Garden City, New York, Paramus, New Jersey and The Woodlands, Texas.
