Given that calls and messages arrive on your phone are of different wavelengths, it will be able to detect which wavelength it is receiving and will be able to display the appropriate notification on the back of the case, as pictured above. The company behind the Lunecase calls it the first intelligent iPhone cover and will reportedly be able to notify you of incoming notifications before they even arrive on your phone.
As it stands it seems that the Lunecase will only be able to detect phone calls and SMS messages, so if you don’t use SMS that often and prefer instant messaging, like WhatsApp, BBM, Viber, and so on, then it looks like the case’s functionality will be a bit limited for you. However it’s still a pretty clever idea, not to mention the glowing effect of the notification is very pretty.
At the moment the Lunecase is a Kickstarter project and they are aiming to raise $50,000 in funding. They have managed to raise close to $40,000 and with 36 days to go, we reckon they should be able to meet their goal.
