Not so long ago Google announced Android Wear, an SDK it has developed specifically for wearable devices. Two companies, LG and Motorola, are already building smartwatches on it. A latest report out of Korea today suggests that the LG G Watch will be released immediately after Google’s annual conference. Google I/O 2014 takes place in San Francisco, California between June 25-26.
It is quite possible that Google will talk about Android Wear at its annual developers conference. Its certainly nascent and the company would want to tell developers more about it. Besides, Google is evidently interested in the wearable device market so its highly likely that Android Wear might be on the agenda at I/O 2014.
A release immediately after I/O will make LG G Watch the first ever Android Wear powered smartwatch. Motorola is working on one as well, the Moto 360, which is quite frankly one of the most beautifully designed smartwatches I have ever seen. The company, which will soon be a part of Lenovo, will also launch its Android Wear smartwatch this summer.
Recently several details about the G Watch were revealed. It has an always-on 1.65-inch display, a dust and water resistant body and 4GB of internal memory. The report claims it will sell for under £180 in the UK, no word as yet what its retail price is going to be stateside.
