If there’s one thing that Snapchat has proven to the world its that people love to communicate by sending each other pictures and videos. We have already seen others copy the popular application’s features which have played a major part in making “selfies” such a big trend today. Facebook today rolled out an update for its standalone messenger application. It focuses on instant photo sharing and also makes it easier to send videos to contacts.
Messenger users can now send videos from their phone’s camera roll. When they receive videos from a contact the clip can be played within the app itself. Selfies can now be shared without having to leave the app. Tapping on the camera icon turns half the screen into a front-facing viewfinder for the camera. Snap and send instantly.
Cross platform messaging applications have also relied upon stickers for popularity. Facebook now wants to make stickers viral. When someone sends a sticker the recipient can now download the entire pack by simply pressing and holding down on it. Popular stickers will quickly gain traction after this update.
The icons for camera, stickers, voice notes have all been placed under the text field for easy access. Facebook Messenger’s latest update also brings fixes for groups and improves the search functionality as well. The update is available now for iOS and will roll out for Android later this week.
