For those unfamiliar with IFTTT, the idea behind the app is to automate your phone to do specific tasks. This automation is done by applying various “recipes” which is a combination of scenarios. For example you could set it so that whenever a photo is taken, you can send it to yourself in an email for backup purposes. You could also set it so that every morning you would be emailed the weather report, and so on.
There are many combinations that you can choose from and you can even create your own recipes if you don’t see any that suits your purposes. With the Android version, the developers have added a handful of new channels that you can add recipes to. This includes Android Device, Android Location, Android Notifications, Android Phone Call, Android Photos, and Android SMS.
It’s a pretty interesting app and it can be used to manage your notifications as well. Say you only want to be notified when emails from a particular address come in, you will be able to set that up as well, as opposed to be notified of every single email which can be pretty distracting. The app will also play nicely with home automation devices like the Belkin Wemo, Philips Hue lightbulbs, and so on. It’s a free download so if you want to check it out, hit up the Google Play Store for the download.
