$300 million is definitely not a small sum of money, but when you compare it to the likes of the other big boys in the industry such as Samsung who has allocated $14 billion in 2013 alone, it does put things into perspective. I guess that is why the Samsung Galaxy S5, despite being out in the market for just a week, is allegedly commanding 0.7% of all Android-powered device market share at the moment. Of course, one must also take into consideration the worldwide appeal of the Samsung brand as well as the size of the company before directly comparing its marketing budget with that of Huawei’s.
Huawei marketing vice president Shao Yang was the one who shared that his company “will spend $300 million on marketing” this year alone, and we cannot wait to see just how much of this would be used to push out their devices, and how the rest will be spent to improve on the company’s image.
