It does seem to be the prevailing trend these days, where smartphone companies come up with a “mini” version of their respective flagship handsets instead of calling it by a totally different device name altogether.
I would suppose that this has something to do with not having to spend that much more money to market a new product name – just shrink down the existing design somewhat, remove or dumb down some features here and there, and voila! You have got a mini version of the current smartphone.
The alleged HTC One M8 mini is touted to roll out in Europe and Asia later this May, but what about those of us living Stateside? @evleaks has shared that the “HTC One M8 mini” is indeed “going to Verizon” via Twitter.
It makes some sense, really, considering how Verizon is already selling the original HTC One M8 that has picked up its fair share of bouquets ever since it rolled out.
As for the rumored hardware specifications, the HTC One M8 mini ought to be a mid-range smartphone that has a 4.5-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixels, Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6.0 UI, a 13MP rear camera, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor at 1.7GHz, 1GB RAM, and 16GB of internal memory.
