Samsung has a penchant for launching several variants of its flagship smartphone. Come April 11th the Samsung Galaxy S5 is going to be released in more than 100 countries. A couple of upcoming variants have already been rumored, such as Galaxy S5 mini and the Galaxy S5 Zoom. Today a purported picture of the Galaxy S5 Zoom has appeared online. Rumor has it that the device might actually be called Galaxy K Zoom.

If that really is true, then Samsung would be moving away from the naming convention that it debuted with Galaxy S4 Zoom. A similar variant of 2013 flagship was also released last month, the main idea behind this variant is to offer a much better imaging experience, even if that means opting for not so spectacular hardware specifications.

Rumored specifications for Galaxy S5 Zoom include a 1.6GHz quadcore or 1.4GHz Samsung Exynos 5 hexacore processor with ARM Mali-T624 graphics. It may have a 4.8-inch display and 2GB RAM. The Galaxy S5 Zoom might come with Android 4.4.2 KitKat pre-installed.

Evidently the pièce de résistance on this variant will be its camera. Word on the street is that it packs a 20 megapixel rear camera with 10x optical zoom as well as a Xenon flash. Its predecessor, the Galaxy S4 Zoom, had a 16 megapixel camera, so at least that’s an improvement. Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed when or if it intends to launch this variant. [Image via KZoom]
