EA Apologizes To Nintendo For “Unacceptable” Wii U Joke

nintendo-wii-u-review-14Sometimes during April Fools, pranks get carried a little too far, or perhaps the person pulling the prank does not see how their prank might have been mean spirited or done in bad taste. Well it seems that EA did not appreciate the “jokes” that were being made by their Frostbite Twitter account which made fun of the Nintendo Wii U.

In response EA has since issued an apology on Twitter, calling the jokes “unacceptable” and “stupid”. According to the tweet, “Our apologies to partners @NintendoAmerica & fan @FrostbiteEngine ’s poor attempt at April Fools not condoned by EA : unacceptable/ stupid.”

For those wondering what were the tweets the Frostbite account made, it basically made fun of the Wii U and its inability to run the Frostbite 3 engine. EA has stated in the past that this is the reason that they had no games in development for the Wii U, but reiterated that this does not mean they will be disregarding the Wii U entirely.

According to the tweets by Frostbite, which has since been taken down, they read, “Good news, we have finally fixed and optimized our ‘netcode’. Uses quantum entanglement for Zero Latency connections. Exclusively on #WiiU.” It was followed by, “Frostbite will power #HalfLife 3, coming out summer 2014! #WiiU exclusive,” and “Frostbite now runs on the #WiiU since it is the most powerful Gen4 platform, our renderer is now optomized for Mario and Zelda.”

We guess there is a shred of truth to their tweets although it does seem a bit silly that EA would want to burn any potential bridges, even if it might just be a joke, but what do you guys think? Did they go too far?
