callofduty-screenshotIt does seem as though Call of Duty is starting to feel like it is a FIFA or NBA title on game consoles – there is a new version or edition with each passing year. Perhaps the Call of Duty franchise should just drop the title naming convention that it follows at the moment, and stick to plain Call of Duty 2015, 2016, ad infinitum. Well, having said that, what is deemed to be the first screenshot for this year’s version of Call of Duty has already surfaced, and revealed to the word by IGN.

The character model close-up that you see above does give one a better glimpse at Sledgehammer’s next-gen shooter. I must say, it looked like a photo at first glance, which should mean the graphics will be mouthwatering, although there is every chance of gamers getting disappointed with the final product. Hey, it is not as though that had not happened before, remember Duke Nukem Forever?

The image above was said to have been shown off during Sledgehammer’s ‘Quest for Quality’ GDC panel in March, where it is widely touted to be an “actual in-game character” from this year’s edition of Call of Duty. It has not been confirmed however, that the alleged leaked shot hails from the next generation console version, and not for the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3. Expect more to be revealed between now and the game’s alluded autumn release date.
