Archos has announced its latest member of the Archos Helium family, and that would be the Archos 50 Helium 4G smartphone. As you should be able to tell by now, the numeric figure in the naming convention drops a hint on how large the screen size is, where in the case of the Archos 50 Helium 4G, it would boast of a 5″ IPS High Definition display.
Of course, most folks would be interested to see just where the Archos 50 Helium 4G stands in the midst of numerous smartphone releases in recent times, such as the HTC One (M8) and the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Well, apart from the 5″ display that we mentioned about earlier, this smartphone from the French manufacturer will also run on a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8926 processor, sport 4G LTE and Bluetooth connectivity, has 8GB of internal memory, 1GB RAM, an 8MP shooter at the back with LED flash with a 2MP front-facing camera, with all of those running on top of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. The battery weighs in at 2,000mAh, which is pretty much nothing out of the ordinary.
Oh, how we wished that it would arrive with Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box, at the very least it would translate to not having to wait for a new operating system update. On paper, it does seem as though the Archos 50 Helium 4G is going to duke it out with the rest of the mid-range smartphone market, taking leave from the flagship device territory. [Product Page]
