Assuming your device is under warranty, Apple will be more than happy to replace your handset with a replacement unit, but it seems that there might be an issue with the iPhone 5’s sleep/wake button that might be causing Apple to issue a recall. If your iPhone 5’s sleep/wake button is giving you issues, Apple has created a special support website in which you can check to see if your phone is one of the affected models.
If your phone is one of the affected models, you’re in luck because Apple will fix it for you. They will not be replacing your phone though, so you should probably have a spare handset if you were thinking about sending it in. iPhone 5 owners can send their phones in either at the Apple Store, an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or mail it in to the Apple Repair Center.
Apple estimates that the repair should take 4-6 days from the time the phone is received so it looks like you could be out of commission for about a week or so. Apple will also be refunding customers who might have paid for an out-of-warranty replacement to address this issue. So, any of our readers’ iPhone 5’s sleep/wake button giving them issues?
