While Windows Phone 8.1 will be the official update that Microsoft will be pushing out to Windows Phone 8 handsets, Nokia will be pushing out an update of their own called Nokia Cyan. The update will essentially be the same update as Microsoft with Nokia’s own additions, and like we’ve seen in the past, Nokia Lumia handsets will be getting some exclusive features like Dolby Surround Sound Capture and Miracast support.
That being said, additional details of the Nokia Cyan have since been revealed although there is still an air of mystery surrounding the update at this point in time. Speaking to Finnish publication Tekniikkatalous, Nokia’s Ari Partinen revealed that some of the changes and updates Nokia will be introducing with Cyan includes “enhancements to the camera roll and Creative Studio, as well as a new and improved Nokia Storyteller app, for sharing stories as a video slideshow on social networks.”
Nokia has been known for producing some pretty good phones with excellent cameras and with Cyan, they are expected to be improved even further with noise reduction algorithms and color management. For PureView devices, Nokia has listened to customers and sped up the capturing process by doing away with the need for saving photos in two different resolutions.
In any case it sounds like so far the update will be quite focused towards the camera which we guess is a good thing. After all handsets like the Lumia 1020, Lumia Icon, and the Lumia 1520 have proven to be top notch when it comes to their photography and we can only imagine it will get better with the Nokia Cyan update. Still no word on an official release date but this is definitely something worth looking forward to.
