Apple last refreshed the MacBook Air lineup in June 2013. The new models brought Intel Haswell processors with improved graphics and better battery life. MacBook Air is due for a refresh soon and just a few days back it was rumored that a new lineup might be announced as soon as next week. A new report published today claims that the 2014 MacBook Air lineup might be launched tomorrow. Apple obviously hasn’t commented on the report.
The folks at 9to5mac hear from “multiple sources” that the 2014 MacBook Air lineup will be launched tomorrow. The sources claim that shipments of new models have already begun arriving in large quantities to Apple Stores across the U.S. Apple Stores will also reportedly re-arrange placement of Macs in the stores to focus on the Air tomorrow morning.
Despite rumors of Apple working on a new 12-inch MacBook Air which is apparently super thin and has a Retina display, the report claims that tomorrow’s lineup won’t have anything to do with that. The existing 11-inch and 13-inch models will be updated and we should only expect the latest Haswell chips from Intel and perhaps new storage options as well.
So if there’s any truth to the report, the 2014 MacBook Air lineup will just be a simple refresh. There won’t be any revolutionary changes and certainly no design changes. Apple has not made any major changes to the Air’s design ever since it was first launched. If the launch is indeed destined for tomorrow it would simply be announced through a press release. Apple has done it this way many times in the past.
