However the initial markets will be Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, but we expect that additional countries will be announced at a later date. Unsurprisingly the company has also chosen to launch the Redmi Note in China first where it will see a release on the 26th of March and where it will be priced at upwards of $129, making it a pretty damn affordable handset.
Xiaomi’s Redmi lineup has typically been of the budget variety and usually packs decent hardware specs with attractive prices, so it is not surprising that they have continued the trend with the Redmi Note.
For those who missed our earlier coverage, the Redmi Note will come in two variants. One model will be powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core chipset with 1GB of RAM which will cost $129, while the other version will sport a 1.7GHz processor with 2GB of RAM which would come with a price tag of $159.
The rest of the specs are expected to remain the same, which means that it will feature a 5.5-inch 720p IPS HD display with full lamination, a 13MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, a 3,200mAh battery, along with dual-SIM support. No word on which other markets Xiaomi is eyeing at the moment but we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled.
