In a recent tweet by Xiaomi, the company has announced a new handset called the Redmi Note. Based on what Xiaomi has revealed so far, along with a post on Weibo with the accompanying image above, chances are the Redmi Note is the official name of the Redmi 2 that we have been hearing about so far.
So far Xiaomi has confirmed that the handset will pack a 5.5-inch display and a “true” octa-core processor. Last we heard, the handset will supposedly pack a MediaTek octa-core processor which will be clocked at either 1.4GHz or 1.7GHz (it is speculated that there could be more than one model available).
Other alleged specs which Xiaomi has yet to confirm includes 1GB of RAM, a 13MP camera, microSD card storage, and a possible price tag of $130, which seems a little low which is why some have taken to speculate that the phone could end up being priced at around $160 instead.
Screen resolution remains a mystery for now, but with pre-orders expected to kick off on the 19th of March, we’re guessing its full specifications should be revealed before or around that time.
