Well sure enough it has. In fact one of the ways Windows 8 users could update their OS to the latest build is by tweaking their registry, but if you’d rather not do that and would rather get your hands on the files themselves, it seems that Microsoft has accidentally leaked the direct links to the files.
Thanks to a post on My Digital Life Forums, all the links that you will need can be found there. Now so far according to those who downloaded the update via the registry tweak method have had no problems with the software.
This is not surprising given that they have probably downloaded the final build. However we can’t say the same for the direct download since we have yet to take it for a spin ourselves, but forum posters have indicated that everything is working as it should.
Of course for those who’d rather not chance it, you can go ahead and wait for the official update which should be arriving next month, but if you’re too impatient to wait and want to see what all the fuss is about, hit up the forums for the details. However as is with the case regarding unofficial updates, do proceed with caution lest something should go wrong.
